About CALCIOM-CT SOFTGEL CAPSULE

Calciom-CT Softgel Capsules

PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION

Calciom-CT

Calcium and vitamin D supplement with minerals

Calciom-CT is a combination of calcitriol (the active form of vitamin D), calcium citrate, zinc sulphate and magnesium oxide. These ingredients help maintain bone mineralization, support calcium metabolism and address certain nutritional deficiencies.

Based on the packaging shown in your photograph, the box contains 10 strips of 10 softgel capsules, totaling 100 capsules.

1. Composition and ingredients

Calcium citrate

Provides calcium, an essential mineral for building and maintaining bones and teeth. Calcium citrate is generally absorbed well, including in people with reduced stomach acid.

Calcitriol

The active hormonal form of vitamin D. It increases calcium absorption from the intestines and helps regulate calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. Unlike ordinary vitamin D supplements, calcitriol requires careful dosing and monitoring.

Zinc sulphate

Supplies zinc, which contributes to immune function, wound healing, protein synthesis and normal bone development.

Magnesium oxide

Supplies magnesium, which is involved in muscle and nerve function, bone structure and numerous metabolic reactions.

The photograph identifies the four active ingredients but does not show their individual strengths in milligrams or micrograms. Those amounts should be checked on the back of the box or the blister packaging.

2. What is Calciom-CT used for?

Depending on the patient's diagnosis, a clinician may prescribe this type of combination to support treatment of calcium deficiency, certain bone-mineral disorders or conditions involving abnormal calcium metabolism.

Bone health

Calcium and vitamin D support bone mineralization. In some patients, supplementation is used alongside other treatment for osteoporosis or osteomalacia.

Calcium regulation

Calcitriol may be prescribed for specific disorders, including certain forms of hypocalcemia or hypoparathyroidism.

Selected kidney-related conditions

Calcitriol is sometimes used to manage mineral and bone disorders associated with chronic kidney disease, under specialist supervision.

These are potential uses of the ingredients, not confirmed approved indications for this particular brand.

3. How to take it

Take Calciom-CT only at the dose and frequency prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the softgel whole with water. Calcium citrate can be taken with or without food, although taking the capsule after a meal may help reduce stomach discomfort.

Consumer

Do not increase the dose or combine it with additional calcium or vitamin D supplements without medical advice.

4. Side effects and precautions

Common possible side effects of the ingredients include constipation, nausea, stomach discomfort and, occasionally, diarrhea.

Important safety warning

Calcitriol can cause hypercalcemia (excessively high blood calcium). Symptoms can include:

  • Persistent nausea, vomiting or constipation

  • Unusual thirst and frequent urination

  • Muscle weakness or unusual fatigue

  • Confusion or an irregular heartbeat

Seek prompt medical advice if these symptoms develop. Severe confusion or an irregular heartbeat warrants urgent medical attention.

Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, kidney stones, high blood calcium or high blood phosphate. Also disclose pregnancy, breastfeeding and all other medications you take.

Calcitriol can interact with thiazide diuretics, digoxin and additional vitamin D or calcium products. Calcium and other minerals can also reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics and thyroid medicines, so doses may need to be separated.

5. Monitoring during treatment

Your doctor may order blood tests for calcium, phosphate and kidney function. Monitoring is particularly important when starting calcitriol or adjusting its dose. Some patients also require parathyroid hormone testing.
