The image clearly identifies:
Brand: ACCOTT
Product: ACCTHRIN Lotion
Active ingredient: Permethrin 5% w/w
Pack size: 60 mL
Label indication: “For eradication of scabies & pediculosis”
This is the medicinal active ingredient.
Permethrin 5% = 50 mg of permethrin per gram of lotion.
It is a synthetic pyrethroid that acts on the nervous system of mites and lice, causing paralysis and death. Permethrin 5% is an established topical treatment for scabies. (CDC)
For comparison, the ACCTHRIN soap you showed previously contains permethrin 1%, whereas this lotion contains 5%.
Important: The photograph only reveals the active ingredient. It does not show the manufacturer's complete excipient list, so I cannot accurately claim that particular ingredients such as mineral oil, glycerin, carbomer, etc. are present in this ACCOTT formulation.
For comparison, approved 5% permethrin creams from other manufacturers can contain ingredients such as carbomer, glycerin, mineral oil, isopropyl myristate, emulsifiers and purified water—but formulations vary by manufacturer. (DailyMed)
For classic scabies, CDC guidance lists permethrin 5% cream as a first-line treatment. It is generally applied to the appropriate body surfaces and washed off after 8–14 hours; a second application about a week later may sometimes be necessary. (CDC)
This is different from your previous permethrin 1% soap. The two products should not be assumed to be interchangeable merely because both contain permethrin.
The package claims treatment of both:
Scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei)
→ Permethrin 5% is a standard topical scabies treatment. (CDC)
Pediculosis (lice)
→ Permethrin is also used against lice, although the appropriate concentration/formulation and treatment schedule depend on the type of lice. CDC guidance, for example, lists permethrin 1% cream rinse for pubic lice. (CDC)
This is a medicated antiparasitic lotion, not an ordinary body lotion.
Apply only according to the product's instructions/prescriber's directions.
Avoid eyes and mucous membranes.
Don't apply repeatedly just because itching remains—the itching from scabies can persist for weeks even after the mites have been eliminated. (CDC)
New burrows or new pimple-like lesions, or persistent symptoms beyond the expected period, can indicate treatment failure or reinfestation and warrant medical review. (CDC)
Household/close contacts may need simultaneous assessment/treatment, and bedding, clothing and towels should be appropriately cleaned to reduce reinfestation. (CDC)
ACCTHRIN Lotion = Permethrin 5% w/w, 60 mL, specifically labeled for scabies and pediculosis.
The confirmed composition from this image is 5% permethrin. The remaining ingredients cannot be reliably determined from the front label. (CDC)
