The product shown is ACCOTT ACCThRIN Soap, Permethrin 1%, 75 g. The front label describes it as an “Anti Scabies & Anti Lice Bathing Bar.”
Confirmed active ingredientPermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid. It acts on the nervous system of susceptible parasites, ultimately causing paralysis and death.
It is used topically for lice and, in appropriate formulations/concentrations, scabies. (MedlinePlus)
However, there is an important distinction with this particular soap:
Permethrin 1% is an established concentration for lice treatment in certain topical formulations. (CDC)
Standard CDC treatment for scabies is permethrin 5% cream, applied over the appropriate body areas and left on for 8–14 hours. (CDC)
Therefore, do not assume that a 1% permethrin bathing soap is equivalent to 5% permethrin scabies cream.
According to its packaging, it is marketed for:
Scabies → killing scabies mites
Lice → killing lice
Bathing bar → provides a soap/cleansing base while delivering the active ingredient
The actual effectiveness depends on the formulation, amount applied, contact time and the parasite involved.
The photograph allows me to confirm Permethrin 1%, but it does not show a readable complete ingredient list.
A medicated soap will also contain a soap base and other excipients, potentially including:
cleansing/soap components
fatty-acid salts
hardening agents
moisturizers
fragrance
preservatives/stabilizers
colourants
I cannot reliably identify those from this image, so I wouldn't invent them.
Don't use it like an ordinary bathing soap simply because it is called a “bath bar.” Permethrin is a pesticide/medication and should be used according to the product's directions.
Avoid contact with:
eyes
mouth
mucous membranes
broken or severely irritated skin
Permethrin can cause temporary burning, stinging, itching, redness or irritation in some people.
For head lice, CDC guidance specifically notes that 1% permethrin kills live lice but not all unhatched eggs, and resistance can occur. (CDC)
For suspected scabies, proper diagnosis and an appropriate scabicide are important. CDC guidance recommends 5% permethrin cream as a standard treatment rather than assuming a 1% soap is an equivalent substitute. (CDC)
ACCThrin Soap = Permethrin 1% medicated soap, 75 g.
The only ingredient and concentration that can be confirmed from this photograph is permethrin 1%. The rest of the formulation requires a clear photograph of the back/side composition panel or the manufacturer's formulation information.
