CEFOTT-100 DRY SYP
The image shows a prescription pediatric antibiotic in dry-powder form:
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used for certain bacterial infections; examples in prescribing information include some urinary-tract infections, middle-ear infections, and bacterial throat/tonsil infections. Antibiotics such as cefixime should be used when a bacterial infection is suspected or established rather than for ordinary viral colds. DailyMed
The bottle initially contains powder rather than ready-to-drink liquid. Water is added to produce the oral suspension. After mixing, the bottle needs to be shaken well before doses are measured, because the drug particles are suspended in the liquid rather than completely dissolved.
The exact amount of water matters. Different cefixime products have different reconstitution instructions and concentrations, so don't use a generic “add X mL of water” instruction for this particular bottle. Follow the CEFOTT-100 package instructions or pharmacist's instructions. Official cefixime labeling also emphasizes that the concentration must be considered when converting a prescribed dose into millilitres. DailyMed
For children, cefixime dosing is generally weight-based, and the appropriate dose depends on the child's age, weight, infection, kidney function, and the specific product concentration. One official reference gives 8 mg/kg/day for children 6 months and older, either once daily or divided into two doses, but that does not mean you should apply 8 mg/kg/day to this bottle without the prescribing clinician's instructions. If you want, I can also read the label in this photo line-by-line and explain exactly what the “1 g/30 mL” concentration means and how to calculate the prescribed mL dose from a child's weight.
