Accpod CV
Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg + Potassium Clavulanate 125 mg per tablet
Total labelled active-ingredient amount: 325 mg/tablet.
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefpodoxime proxetil is the oral prodrug form; after absorption, it is converted to active cefpodoxime.
It works mainly by interfering with bacterial cell-wall synthesis, ultimately causing susceptible bacteria to die.
It may be prescribed for susceptible bacterial infections involving, for example:
Throat/tonsils
Sinuses
Ears
Respiratory tract
Urinary tract
Skin and soft tissues
The exact indication depends on the infection and the doctor's assessment.
Potassium clavulanate is a β-lactamase inhibitor. Some bacteria produce β-lactamase enzymes that can destroy certain β-lactam antibiotics.
Clavulanate helps inhibit these enzymes, thereby allowing the antibiotic component to remain effective against certain bacteria that could otherwise be resistant.
The combination is intended to provide broader antibacterial coverage than cefpodoxime alone in situations where β-lactamase-producing bacteria are suspected or known.
It is not a painkiller or fever medicine, and it does not treat viral infections such as the common cold or influenza.
The manufacturer/supplier information lists Accpod CV DS as Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg + Clavulanic Acid/Potassium Clavulanate 125 mg. (Tradeindia)
The front of your photograph only says “Cefpodoxime & Potassium Clavulanate Tablets”, so if you want the exact complete formulation—including excipients, coating ingredients, and the precise pharmaceutical equivalent of cefpodoxime, the back of the box/blister is needed.
Because this is an antibiotic, it should be taken only according to the prescription. Important considerations include:
Previous allergy to cephalosporins or penicillins
Kidney impairment
History of antibiotic-associated severe diarrhea/colitis
Other medicines being taken
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Possible adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, headache, and allergic reactions. Severe rash, facial/throat swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe/persistent diarrhea requires prompt medical attention.
Do not stop or extend the antibiotic course on your own unless your prescriber advises you to.
If you send me a photo of the back of the Accpod CV box/blister, I can explain every ingredient line-by-line, including the composition, strengths, excipients, indications, dosage, side effects, contraindications, and storage instructions.
