Chymocott tablets, labeled as “Trypsin-Chymotrypsin, Paracetamol & Aceclofenac Tablets.”
The formulation contains four active components:
Trypsin is a proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzyme. In this type of formulation, it is intended to help with the inflammatory response and tissue edema.
It may be used as part of treatment for:
Soft-tissue injuries
Postoperative swelling
Musculoskeletal inflammation
Traumatic swelling
Trypsin itself is not a conventional painkiller; its role is primarily related to inflammation and swelling.
Chymotrypsin is another proteolytic enzyme. It is included with trypsin because the two enzymes have complementary protein-digesting activity.
Its intended effects include:
Helping reduce inflammatory swelling
Reducing tissue edema
Supporting resolution of inflammation following trauma or surgery
Potentially facilitating recovery of injured tissues
Again, it does not work like an NSAID or paracetamol, so its purpose in the combination is different from the direct pain-relieving ingredients.
Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
It provides the main anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect of the combination by reducing the production of prostaglandins involved in:
Pain
Inflammation
Tenderness
Swelling
It is commonly used for conditions such as:
Musculoskeletal pain
Sprains and strains
Joint pain
Arthritis-related pain
Back pain
Post-traumatic pain
Potential adverse effects include gastric irritation, indigestion, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and, less commonly, gastrointestinal bleeding or kidney problems.
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is an analgesic and antipyretic.
Its main purposes are:
Pain relief
Fever reduction
It complements aceclofenac because the two medications provide pain relief through different mechanisms.
An important precaution is that total daily paracetamol from all medicines should be considered. Taking another paracetamol-containing medicine at the same time can unintentionally result in an excessive dose, which can cause serious liver injury.
The basic rationale is:
Trypsin + Chymotrypsin → swelling/inflammatory tissue component
Aceclofenac → inflammation + pain
Paracetamol → pain + fever
Thus, the combination is intended particularly for pain accompanied by inflammation and swelling, rather than simple fever or mild pain alone.
The photograph you provided only shows the front of the package. It does not show the numerical strength of each ingredient. I don't want to invent those values because different manufacturers/formulations can use different strengths.
If you send me a photo of the back side of the Chymocott box or the tablet strip, I can read the exact label and give you a detailed breakdown such as:
Trypsin — ___ mg / enzyme activity
Chymotrypsin — ___ mg / enzyme activity
Aceclofenac — ___ mg
Paracetamol — ___ mg
Excipients — ___
Manufacturer — ___
I can also explain each ingredient's mechanism, indications, dosage, contraindications, drug interactions, side effects, and whether it should be taken before or after food.
