About MOXYCOT CV-625 MONO PACK

Moxycot-CV 625 Tablets

Brand: Moxycot-CV 625
Manufacturer/brand: Accott Healthcare
Dosage form: Film-coated tablet
Pack shown: 10 × 10 tablets

Accott's product listing confirms the composition as Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg. (Tradeindia)

1. Amoxicillin — 500 mg

Amoxicillin is a β-lactam penicillin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis, causing susceptible bacteria to die. The 500 mg is generally supplied as amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to 500 mg amoxicillin. (PIL Pharma)

2. Clavulanic acid — 125 mg

Clavulanic acid itself is not primarily used as an antibiotic. It is a β-lactamase inhibitor.

Some bacteria produce β-lactamase enzymes that can destroy amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid inhibits these enzymes, allowing amoxicillin to remain effective against susceptible β-lactamase-producing bacteria. (MIMS)

Why it is called “625”

500 mg amoxicillin + 125 mg clavulanic acid = 625 mg total active components.

So:

Moxycot-CV 625 = Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg per tablet.

Common uses

This combination may be prescribed for susceptible bacterial infections such as:

  • Sinus/ear infections

  • Respiratory bacterial infections

  • Dental infections

  • Skin and soft-tissue infections

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Certain bone/joint infections

It does not treat viral infections such as the common cold or influenza. (1mg)

Important precautions

  • Take it only when prescribed and complete the prescribed course.

  • Taking it with a meal can reduce stomach upset. (1mg)

  • Common adverse effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort.

  • Tell your doctor if you have a penicillin/cephalosporin allergy or significant kidney/liver disease.

  • Severe allergic reactions, persistent severe diarrhea, or jaundice require prompt medical attention.

Exact excipients: The photograph does not show the composition panel clearly enough to verify Accott's complete excipient list, so I would not invent one. For comparison, other 625-mg amoxicillin/clavulanate products commonly list excipients q.s. and may use titanium dioxide in the film coating, but those should not automatically be attributed to Moxycot-CV.
