About NIMSLITE-P GOLDEN PACK

NIMSLITE-P Tablets by Accott. The front identifies it as Nimesulide & Paracetamol Tablets.

Composition — per tablet

The standard formulation of this combination is:

IngredientQuantityRoleNimesulide BP100 mgNSAID; analgesic and anti-inflammatoryParacetamol IP325 mgAnalgesic and antipyreticExcipientsq.s.Tablet formulation ingredients

This 100 mg nimesulide + 325 mg paracetamol combination is documented for this type of tablet formulation. (Azine Healthcare)

1. Nimesulide — 100 mg

Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It reduces prostaglandin production, thereby helping reduce:

  • Pain

  • Inflammation

  • Fever

It provides the major anti-inflammatory component of the combination.

2. Paracetamol — 325 mg

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is primarily an:

  • Analgesic — reduces pain

  • Antipyretic — reduces fever

It has considerably less peripheral anti-inflammatory activity than nimesulide.

Why they are combined

The two medicines provide complementary effects:

Nimesulide → pain + inflammation
Paracetamol → pain + fever

Therefore, the combination may be prescribed for short-term acute painful/inflammatory conditions, such as certain musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, headache, or other painful conditions, depending on the physician's assessment. (Torrent Pharmaceuticals)

Important safety issue — liver

This combination requires particular caution because both nimesulide and paracetamol can cause liver toxicity. The Indian CDSCO has specifically noted hepatotoxicity concerns with this combination. (CDSCO)

Current prescribing information for nimesulide-containing products recommends short-term use, with nimesulide ordinarily restricted to 10 days, and advises liver-function assessment if longer use is clinically warranted. (Torrent Pharmaceuticals)

It should generally be avoided or carefully assessed in people with liver disease, and it should not be combined unnecessarily with other medicines that can damage the liver. (Torrent Pharmaceuticals)

Important with the medicines you showed earlier

You also showed:

  • PACICOT-500 — paracetamol 500 mg

  • PACICOT-650 — paracetamol 650 mg

  • TRYCOT-PLUS — contains diclofenac 50 mg

  • NIMSLITE-P — contains nimesulide 100 mg + paracetamol 325 mg

Do not take NIMSLITE-P together with PACICOT-500/PACICOT-650 unless your doctor specifically instructed you to. That would unnecessarily increase your total paracetamol exposure.

Likewise, NIMSLITE-P + TRYCOT-PLUS would combine two NSAIDs (nimesulide and diclofenac), which can substantially increase the risk of gastrointestinal, kidney and other NSAID-related adverse effects.

Bottom line

NIMSLITE-P = Nimesulide 100 mg + Paracetamol 325 mg per tablet + excipients q.s. (Azine Healthcare)

It is a prescription pain/anti-inflammatory combination intended for short-term use, rather than a routine daily painkiller.
