About RABITIME-20 TAB

RABITIME-20 Tablets

Composition — per tablet

Active ingredient:

  • Rabeprazole sodium — 20 mg

  • This corresponds to approximately 18.85 mg of rabeprazole (free/base equivalent). (Medicines.org.uk)

The tablet is gastro-resistant/enteric-coated, meaning the coating is designed to prevent the acid-sensitive drug from being released in the stomach. Rabeprazole is absorbed after the tablet passes into the intestine. (Medicines.org.uk)

Pharmacological class

Rabeprazole = Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI).

It suppresses gastric acid production by inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase (“proton pump”) in stomach parietal cells.

What it is commonly used for

Rabeprazole 20 mg may be prescribed for:

  • Acid reflux / GERD

  • Heartburn associated with acid reflux

  • Erosive or ulcerative esophagitis

  • Gastric ulcers

  • Duodenal ulcers

  • Maintenance treatment of GERD in appropriate patients

  • H. pylori eradication, in combination with appropriate antibiotics

  • Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other conditions involving excessive acid production. (Medicines.org.uk)

Excipients

The exact inactive ingredients in RABITIME-20 specifically cannot be confirmed from the front photograph. They vary between manufacturers.

For comparison, documented rabeprazole 20-mg gastro-resistant formulations can contain excipients such as mannitol, magnesium oxide, hydroxypropylcellulose, magnesium stearate, plus coating materials including hypromellose phthalate, talc and titanium dioxide. These should not automatically be assumed to be the exact excipients in RABITIME-20. (Medicines.org.uk)

Why the tablet is gastro-resistant

Rabeprazole is acid-labile. If it were released directly in the acidic stomach, it could be degraded. The gastro-resistant coating therefore helps the tablet reach the intestine before releasing the active drug. (Medicines.org.uk)

In short:

RABITIME-20 = Rabeprazole sodium 20 mg per gastro-resistant tablet (equivalent to 18.85 mg rabeprazole).

If you upload the back/side of the RABITIME-20 box, I can identify the complete manufacturer-specific composition, including every excipient and its quantity, if printed there.
