1. What is Moxycot-250?

Moxycot-250 is a penicillin-class antibiotic containing amoxicillin, used to treat certain bacterial infections. Amoxicillin works by interfering with bacterial cell-wall formation, ultimately killing susceptible bacteria.

It may be prescribed for bacterial infections affecting the ears, nose, throat, respiratory tract, urinary tract and skin. It does not treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

The appropriate dose and duration depend on the infection, patient age, weight, kidney function and other clinical factors. The 250 mg strength alone does not determine how frequently it should be taken.

4. Side effects and precautions

Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and skin rash. Seek urgent medical care if symptoms of a serious allergic reaction occur, such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the face or throat.
