About MOXYCOT-500 CAPSULE

MOXYCOT-500  CAPSULE

The image shows Moxycot-500 (Amoxycillin Capsules I.P. 500 mg), a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections.

1. Detailed description of the product

2. Packaging and appearance

The photograph features a white rectangular medicine carton with red graphic accents. The brand name, Moxycot-500, is printed prominently in bold red lettering, while the generic medicine name and strength appear above it in black.

In front of the box is a silver blister strip containing five visible yellow-and-orange capsules. The carton indicates a total pack quantity of 100 capsules; only part of a blister strip is shown.

3. What is Moxycot-500 used for?

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic. Doctors prescribe it for susceptible bacterial infections, including:

  • Ear, nose and throat infections.

  • Certain respiratory tract infections, including some cases of pneumonia.

  • Certain urinary tract infections.

  • Dental infections and abscesses.

  • Some skin and soft-tissue infections.

  • Helicobacter pylori infections, in combination with other medicines.

It works by interfering with bacterial cell-wall formation, causing susceptible bacteria to die. It does not treat viral illnesses such as colds or influenza.

4. How to take it

The correct dose and duration depend on the infection, age, kidney function and medical history. Swallow capsules with water, with or without food, according to your prescription. Do not start taking this antibiotic without medical advice or use leftover antibiotics for a new illness.

5. Side effects and precautions

Common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea and skin rash. Seek urgent medical attention for breathing difficulties, swelling of the face or throat, or a severe blistering rash. Contact a clinician for severe or persistent diarrhoea.

Do not take amoxicillin if you have a known serious allergy to amoxicillin or another penicillin. Tell your clinician about kidney disease, previous antibiotic allergies and other medicines you take.

Important: The photograph identifies the medicine and its labelled strength, but does not establish whether the product is authentic, within its expiry date or appropriate for a particular patient. Check the batch number, expiry date and manufacturer details on the actual packaging.
