Brand: Moxycot-LB 625
Manufacturer shown: Accott Healthcare
Dosage form: Tablet
Pack shown: 10 × 10 tablets
The formulation is the standard amoxicillin + clavulanate + lactic acid bacillus 625-mg combination. Comparable 625-LB formulations specify the following quantities. (Zuventus)
A penicillin-class β-lactam antibiotic.
Inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis.
Kills susceptible bacteria.
The 500 mg is generally supplied as amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to 500 mg amoxicillin. (Zuventus)
A β-lactamase inhibitor.
Certain bacteria produce β-lactamase enzymes that can destroy amoxicillin.
Clavulanate inhibits these enzymes and thereby extends amoxicillin's activity against susceptible resistant bacteria. (Zuventus)
A probiotic component.
Included to help maintain/support the intestinal microbial balance during antibiotic treatment.
Antibiotics can disturb normal gut bacteria and may cause antibiotic-associated diarrhea; the probiotic component is intended to help with this problem. (Zuventus)
The antibiotic portion is:
Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg = 625 mg
The 60 million probiotic spores are additional and are not included in the “625” designation.
Moxycot-LB 625 = Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg + Lactic Acid Bacillus 60 million spores per tablet.
This is a prescription antibiotic and should be used only when a bacterial infection is suspected/confirmed and prescribed.
It does not treat viral colds or influenza.
Common adverse effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort.
Avoid it if you have had a serious penicillin/β-lactam allergy.
Severe rash, facial/throat swelling, breathing difficulty, or persistent/severe diarrhea requires medical attention.
Exact Accott-specific excipients cannot be confirmed from the front photograph. Comparable 625-LB formulations list excipients q.s. and coating colours, but those should not automatically be assumed to be identical to Moxycot-LB. (Zuventus)
