Ometime-DSR is a combination medicine containing omeprazole and domperidone. It is prescribed for certain acid-related digestive conditions, particularly when reflux or acidity is accompanied by nausea or delayed stomach emptying.
Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach. Domperidone is a prokinetic and antiemetic medicine that helps improve stomach movement and relieve nausea and vomiting.
Acid reflux (GERD): Helps reduce stomach acid and symptoms such as heartburn and sour regurgitation.
Acidity and heartburn: Relieves symptoms associated with excessive stomach acid.
Gastritis: May be prescribed for acid-related symptoms in selected cases, although treatment depends on the cause.
Nausea and vomiting: Domperidone may help when these symptoms are associated with certain digestive disorders.
Delayed gastric emptying: Domperidone helps move food through the stomach in selected patients.
This combination is not necessary for every case of acidity. Omeprazole alone may be sufficient for many acid-related conditions.
Reduces acid production
Omeprazole blocks the proton pumps in the stomach lining responsible for producing acid. This reduces acid exposure in the stomach and oesophagus, helping relieve heartburn and allowing acid-related inflammation to heal.
Improves stomach movement
Domperidone blocks peripheral dopamine D2 receptors. It promotes stomach emptying and helps reduce nausea and vomiting.
The correct dose depends on the ingredient strengths, your medical history and the condition being treated. Follow the prescription on your medicine label.
It is commonly taken before food, often before breakfast, when prescribed once daily.
Swallow the capsule whole unless your pharmacist provides specific instructions for your formulation.
Do not crush or chew the enteric-coated omeprazole granules.
Do not take additional doses to compensate for a missed dose.
Domperidone should generally be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary duration because of its potential effects on heart rhythm.

Seek urgent medical care for fainting, palpitations accompanied by dizziness, chest pain or difficulty breathing.
Domperidone can prolong the QT interval and, rarely, cause dangerous heart rhythm abnormalities. It may be unsuitable for people with certain heart conditions, electrolyte disturbances or significant liver disease.
Some medicines, including certain antibiotics and antifungals, can increase this risk. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you take.
Consult a healthcare professional before using this combination during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney or liver disease. Persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools or unexplained weight loss require medical evaluation.
The photograph shows a carton containing ten strips of ten capsules each, with a silver blister strip displayed in front. The package is marked Rx, indicating prescription use, and EC, referring to the enteric-coated omeprazole formulation.
Store according to the temperature and storage instructions printed on the package, protected from moisture and away from children. Check the expiry date and the ingredient strengths on the back or side panel before use.
Important: The front of the box does not establish the milligram strength of either ingredient. A photograph of the back panel or blister foil would allow the exact composition and labelled directions to be explained.
