ACCPOD-25 DROP
This image shows ACCPOD-25 Drops, a prescription cefpodoxime oral suspension. Unlike the first two medicines you showed, this one is an antibiotic.
Brand: ACCPOD-25 Drops
Active medicine: Cefpodoxime
Form: Oral suspension
Pack: Powder that must be mixed with water before use
Strength printed on the box: 2 g / 10 mL is visible in the upper-right corner.
Rx symbol: This indicates it is a prescription medicine.
The package specifically says “For Paediatric Use Only.”
A separate bottle of water and a dropper are shown for preparation and administration.
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works against susceptible bacterial infections by interfering with bacterial cell-wall formation. (DailyMed)
It may be prescribed for bacterial infections such as:
Certain ear infections
Bacterial throat/tonsil infections
Some sinus infections
Certain urinary-tract infections
Other infections when the doctor determines that cefpodoxime is appropriate
It does not treat ordinary viral colds or flu. Antibiotics should be used when a bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed. (DailyMed)
I can see “2 gm/10 ml” on the box, but I would not convert that into a dose of drops from this photograph alone. The product's exact final concentration and the manufacturer's reconstitution instructions need to be confirmed from the side/back label.
For comparison, commercially available cefpodoxime suspensions can be 50 mg/5 mL or 100 mg/5 mL, and the amount of water used to reconstitute the powder determines the final concentration. (DailyMed)
So do not assume that “25” in ACCPOD-25 means 25 mg per drop.
Because this is a powder for suspension:
The powder is reconstituted with the specified amount of water.
The bottle is shaken thoroughly.
It should be shaken well before each dose.
The supplied dropper should be used to measure the prescribed amount accurately.
For some cefpodoxime formulations, the constituted suspension needs refrigeration and has a limited usable period after mixing; however, the exact instructions for this particular ACCPOD product should be followed rather than assuming the instructions from another cefpodoxime product. (DailyMed)
Cefpodoxime dosing in children is generally calculated from body weight and the type of bacterial infection. For example, official labeling for children 2 months–12 years lists 5 mg/kg every 12 hours for several indications, with different maximum doses and treatment durations depending on the infection. (DailyMed)
That means I would need the child's age, weight, diagnosis/reason for prescribing it, and the exact concentration after reconstitution before converting a doctor's prescribed dose into mL/drops.
Possible effects include:
Diarrhea
Nausea/vomiting
Abdominal discomfort
Rash
Seek urgent medical attention for signs of a serious allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, facial/lip swelling, or widespread hives. Significant or persistent diarrhea during or after antibiotic treatment should also be discussed with a doctor.
If you upload a clear photo of the back/side of the ACCPOD-25 box, I can read the exact composition, amount of water to add, final concentration, storage instructions, expiry, and manufacturer's dosing instructions and explain them line by line.
