ACRAFT SYRUP
Brand: ACRAFT
Product: Acidify Relief
Quantity: 150 mL
Form: Oral suspension
Active ingredients:
Sodium alginate
Sodium bicarbonate
Calcium carbonate
The label indicates relief of symptoms associated with acid reflux/heartburn.
It is intended to act locally in the stomach/esophagus.
1. Sodium alginate
This is the key anti-reflux/barrier component.
In the presence of stomach acid, alginate forms a floating gel-like “raft” over the stomach contents.
This physical barrier can reduce the amount of acidic stomach contents moving upward into the esophagus.
2. Sodium bicarbonate
Acts as an antacid by neutralizing stomach acid.
It also reacts with acid to generate carbon dioxide, which helps the alginate form the floating raft.
3. Calcium carbonate
Another antacid.
It neutralizes hydrochloric acid in the stomach and can provide relatively rapid relief from acid-related symptoms.
This type of preparation is commonly used for:
Heartburn
Acid indigestion
Acid reflux/GERD symptoms
Burning sensation behind the breastbone
Sour/acid taste associated with reflux
Symptoms that become worse after meals or when lying down
The alginate component is particularly relevant when the main problem is reflux/regurgitation, while the carbonate/bicarbonate components neutralize acid.
This is completely different from the previous products:

Here, calcium carbonate is being used primarily as an antacid. The amount and formulation are designed for acid neutralization, not necessarily for meeting daily calcium requirements.
Antacid preparations containing calcium carbonate can sometimes cause:
Constipation
Bloating
Belching
Nausea
Abdominal discomfort
Excessive use can lead to excessive calcium intake and other metabolic problems.
Sodium-containing antacids also deserve caution in people who have been advised to restrict sodium, such as some people with hypertension, heart failure, kidney disease, or certain other conditions.
Antacids can interfere with the absorption of some other medicines. It's therefore useful to tell your doctor/pharmacist about all medications being taken.
In particular, some medicines may need to be separated from antacids by a few hours. The exact interval depends on the medication.
Because this is an oral suspension, the bottle should generally be shaken well before use so the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Use a proper measuring cup/spoon or the device supplied with the product rather than estimating the volume with a kitchen spoon.
The photograph clearly identifies the three active ingredients, but the amount of each ingredient per 5 mL/10 mL isn't sufficiently clear on this particular image for me to give you a reliable numerical composition.
That is important because the appropriate dose depends on the formulation.
In simple terms:
Sodium alginate → forms a protective anti-reflux raft
Sodium bicarbonate → neutralizes acid + helps form the raft
Calcium carbonate → neutralizes stomach acid
So ACRAFT Acidify Relief is primarily an acid-reflux/heartburn medicine, rather than a general digestive tonic.
