Levocetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine commonly prescribed for:
Allergic rhinitis: sneezing, runny nose, nasal itching and watery eyes caused by dust, pollen, pet dander or other allergens.
Chronic urticaria (hives): raised, itchy skin welts and associated redness.
Other histamine-related allergic symptoms: when a clinician determines that an antihistamine is appropriate.
It helps control allergy symptoms but does not cure the underlying allergy. It is not an emergency treatment for anaphylaxis or severe breathing difficulties.
Important dosage distinction
The usual recommended adult dose of levocetirizine is 5 mg once daily, whereas ACCLEVO-10 contains 10 mg per tablet—twice that amount. Do not take a whole 10 mg tablet unless your prescribing doctor has specifically instructed you to do so.
Dispersible tablets are designed to disperse in water before administration. Follow the instructions for the specific formulation. Do not assume this tablet can be divided into accurate 5 mg doses.
People with impaired kidney function may require substantially lower doses or longer intervals between doses.
During an allergic reaction, the body releases histamine, which binds to H1 receptors and produces symptoms such as itching, sneezing and watery eyes.
Levocetirizine blocks these receptors, reducing the effects of histamine. It is a second-generation antihistamine, although it can still cause drowsiness.

Rare but serious reactions include severe allergic reactions, breathing difficulties and swelling of the face or throat. Seek emergency medical attention if these occur.
Avoid alcohol and use caution with sleeping medicines or other sedating drugs.
Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease or difficulty urinating.
Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Do not combine it with other antihistamines unless advised by your clinician.
Levocetirizine should not be used by people with a known allergy to levocetirizine or cetirizine. It is also contraindicated in patients with end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis.
The packaging instructs users to store the tablets in a cool, dry and dark place and keep them out of children's reach. Protect the blister from moisture and retain the original packaging.
Key takeaway: ACCLEVO-10 is a 10 mg prescription-strength antihistamine. Confirm the prescribed dose with your doctor, especially because standard adult dosing is usually 5 mg. The batch shown in your photograph expired in May 2025 and should not be used.
