CANDICOT-BN Cream
Beclomethasone Dipropionate + Neomycin + Clotrimazole
This is another steroid + antibiotic + antifungal combination, similar in concept to some of the earlier creams you showed.
| Ingredient | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Clotrimazole | Antifungal | Treats susceptible fungal/yeast infections |
| Neomycin | Antibiotic | Acts against certain bacteria |
| Beclomethasone dipropionate | Corticosteroid | Reduces redness, swelling and itching |
Beclomethasone is a topical corticosteroid. Unlike clobetasol in the previous products, it is generally a less-potent steroid, but it is still a steroid and shouldn't be treated as a simple antifungal.
The steroid can make a fungal rash feel and look better quickly because it suppresses inflammation. However, if used unnecessarily or for too long, steroid-containing antifungal combinations can mask or alter a fungal infection and allow it to persist or spread.
That's why the distinction is important:
Clotrimazole → treats the fungus
Beclomethasone → suppresses inflammation/itching
Neomycin → treats susceptible bacteria
A clinician may prescribe such a combination when there is a fungal skin infection accompanied by substantial inflammation, or when a bacterial component is suspected.
It isn't appropriate to assume that every itchy rash needs all three medicines. Eczema, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, bacterial infections and fungal infections can look similar.
You have now shown several different types:
| Product | Antifungal | Antibiotic | Steroid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lulek | Luliconazole | — | No |
| ITRAFOTT-PLUS | Itraconazole | Ofloxacin + ornidazole | Clobetasol |
| Derma-K6 | Ketoconazole + tolnaftate | Neomycin + other antimicrobial | Clobetasol |
| Derma-AC | Miconazole | Neomycin | Clobetasol |
| CANDICOT-BN | Clotrimazole | Neomycin | Beclomethasone |
| Clindacot-N | — | Clindamycin | No |
So CANDICOT-BN is not the same as LULEK. LULEK is a dedicated antifungal, whereas CANDICOT-BN contains an antifungal plus an antibiotic and corticosteroid.
Avoid casually using steroid-containing creams on the:
and avoid the eyes unless specifically directed by a clinician.
Also, don't combine CANDICOT-BN with the other steroid-containing creams you've shown unless your doctor specifically instructed you to do so. Using multiple steroid-containing products can unnecessarily increase corticosteroid exposure.
The individual ingredient strengths aren't sufficiently clear in this image, so I wouldn't give you exact percentages based on the photograph alone. The composition printed on the tube/box or the prescription would be the reliable source.
If these creams were all prescribed for one particular rash, tell me where the rash is, how long you've had it, what it looks like, and which of these creams the doctor told you to use. I can then explain the treatment plan and, importantly, whether any of these products overlap.
