Product: ACCID-O Suspension
Dosage form: Oral suspension
Pack size: 170 mL
Active ingredients stated on the label:
Dried Aluminium Hydroxide
Magnesium Hydroxide
Oxetacaine (Oxethazaine)
The combination is essentially an antacid + local anaesthetic preparation.
Antacid
Aluminium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid (HCl) present in the stomach.
Simplified reaction:
Al(OH)₃ + HCl → aluminium salts + water
This reduces the amount of free acid in the stomach and increases gastric pH.
It can relieve symptoms associated with excess gastric acid, including:
Heartburn
Acid indigestion
Sour stomach
Acid-related epigastric discomfort
Burning associated with gastric acidity
Aluminium-containing antacids commonly tend toward:
→ Constipation
With prolonged or excessive use, aluminium accumulation can be a concern, particularly in people with significantly impaired kidney function.
2. Magnesium HydroxideAntacid
Magnesium hydroxide also neutralizes gastric hydrochloric acid.
Simplified reaction:
Mg(OH)₂ + 2HCl → MgCl₂ + 2H₂O
This decreases gastric acidity and helps relieve heartburn and acid indigestion.
Magnesium hydroxide can have a laxative effect.
Therefore, excessive amounts may cause:
Loose stools
Diarrhea
Abdominal cramping
This is an important feature of the formulation.
Generally:
Aluminium hydroxide → tends toward constipation
Magnesium hydroxide → tends toward diarrhea/laxation
Using the two together can provide effective acid neutralization while helping to balance their respective gastrointestinal effects.
3. Oxetacaine (Oxethazaine)Local anaesthetic
This ingredient is different from the two antacids.
The antacids primarily reduce the acid, whereas oxetacaine primarily reduces the sensation of pain/burning.
Oxetacaine reduces the generation/transmission of pain signals from sensory nerve endings in the gastrointestinal mucosa.
Consequently, it can provide symptomatic relief from:
Burning sensation
Pain associated with acid irritation
Painful dyspeptic symptoms
Acid-related discomfort
So the formulation has a useful combination:
Acid → neutralized by aluminium hydroxide + magnesium hydroxide
Pain/burning → locally relieved by oxetacaine
How the three ingredients work togetherYou can think of ACCID-O as having two major therapeutic actions:
Aluminium hydroxide + Magnesium hydroxide
↓
Neutralize gastric HCl
↓
Increase gastric pH
↓
Reduce acid irritation
↓
Relief of heartburn/acid indigestion
Oxetacaine
↓
Reduces sensation from irritated gastrointestinal mucosa
↓
Reduces burning and pain

The exact strength of each active ingredient cannot be reliably read from this image. The narrow side panel is too blurred to safely interpret, so I don't want to invent the quantities.
The information should ideally be written in this format:
Each 5 mL contains:
Dried Aluminium Hydroxide — ___ mg
Magnesium Hydroxide — ___ mg
Oxetacaine — ___ mg
Excipients — q.s.
Colour: ___
Flavour: ___
If you upload a clear, close-up photograph of the side/back panel containing “Each 5 mL contains…”, I can read it and give you the exact mg/5 mL composition, excipients, pharmacological action, indications, dosage, contraindications, drug interactions, adverse effects, and precautions in a proper medicine-study format.
